Four years ago LibParlor was launched, and we’re celebrating all week long over on Twitter! The past few years have been difficult and challenging for all, but we’re looking ahead to the future and finding ways to provide support and resources for our communities. Here are a few highlights from us since our last birthday post:
- We launched our webinar series as a new format for readers to contribute to LibParlor, and kicked it off with our first in the series
- ACRL named us the ULS Outstanding Professional Development Award winner for 2021
- We worked with eleven writers on new posts
- LibParlor welcomed over 10,000 visitors and 18,000 views on the blog
We are also delighted to announce that LibParlor has been awarded an IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian grant to develop LibParlor Online Learning (LPOL), a free, open-source online curriculum of learning modules with readings and activities that will build capacity for academic library and information science professionals to conduct and publish rigorous original research. While we the lead editors are all situated within academic librarianship, we hope to partner with library workers from all types of libraries on our modules and teaching. We’ll be seeking community feedback at every stage of the process over the next three years, and will be providing updates as often as we can both via our website and at future conferences to make sure all interested voices can be heard.
As always, we want to hear from you — consider writing for us, submit a classified, share this blog with a colleague, and let us know what research content you want to see on LibParlor!
Thank you to our readers and contributors for following along, writing for us, and helping us continue to develop LibParlor over the years. We’re so grateful for our community and all the support we’ve been given along the way. Follow along with our birthday prompts over on Twitter and celebrate with us all week long!
Congrats! Lib Parlor has helped me so much. I really appreciate you all!
